This is a simple photoshop tutorial which explains how to create wires in photoshop which an be added to other images and interfaces as finishing touches.
Plain Wire
RightClick on the layer choose Blending Options then apply the following styles (image opens in a popup)
Plastic Wire
The first example is kinda plain, but the good thing about Photshop's Layer Styles is that you can changes things very easily. For example you can create a plastic look by adding a contour setting.

To give the wire a more metallic look add the Satin Layerstyle with the following settings.

Now you can even create segmented wires like these ones. Although this will only look good with thin wires. You can do this by adding a texture in the bevel layer style. Here are the settings that I used.
