Behind the Scenes
sceneinabottle_thumb

Learn how to make this Behind the Scenes effect where you can make it appear as if the image is popping out from behind a wall.

layer setup
To start off create a new document, and create two layers, we will use the one on the top for the image and the one on the bottom for the chrome border.
Next paste the image you want into the image layer, turn off its visibility and select the border layer.

We need to create a simple closed shape, to enclose the picture. Here I am going to show you how to create something that looks like a large baywindow, using the select tool, because a lot of people dont seem to like using the pen tool. (use the pen tool if you are comfortable with it)

addtoselection
To start drawing choose the rectangular marquee tool and set it to add to selection

Slide 1: Make a rectangular selection with the rectangle marquee tool
Slide 2: Choose the eliptical marquee tool and create a thin oval with the same height as the rectangular selectin, and append it to the right side
Slide 3: Do the same with the left side
Slide 4: create a long oval for the bottom
Slide 5: And a circle for the top
Slide 6: It should look something like this

sdf

Next choose the Paint Bucket tool, and from on the top options bar make sure that from the fill dropdown menu you choose pattern and from the pattern selection you choose the pattern shown in this image, leave everything else to the default settings. And then simply fill the selection.
